Hi, I’m Kyra and I’m based in fabulous Albury/Wodonga. Dog obsessed, red wine lover, singer, colour addict, bath tragic and crazy about my family and friends!
Initially I never thought photography could be my career. I was a singer for 20 years in Sydney and overseas and towards the end of that journey I purchased a camera, did some amazing workshops and the rest is history. Since then, I haven’t looked back.
I originally studied to be a dog photographer which I still do and love with ‘Marley Dog Photography’, named after my furry best friend that I lost last year at 12 years old. One of my great passions is my work with Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue photographing dogs to try and better their chances of getting adopted.
Then I started photographing people, fashion, business branding, weddings and on it goes. I find too much ‘cool’ and ‘beautiful’ in all subjects to specialise in just one area. I am self taught, other than sessions of mentoring and workshops at the start of my career, but as my business has grown, I have learnt something new every time I shoot.
You could study photography all your life but I think you need something more to be a successful photographer. I truly believe that people skills, passion and above all, an eye for light and love is what it’s about. Being a singer gave me great experience interacting with many kinds of people, which is what I do every day with photography. I feel it should be a fun experience so I like to get to have a laugh and get to know you before the shoot so you are as comfortable as you can be.
Whether it is seeing people get the final images and going to tears because they feel so beautiful, or capturing a family’s own unique personalities, to the love that is caught through the lens of a pregnancy, engagement or wedding. I pinch myself every day as I can’t believe I have turned my personal passion into my ‘job’ and I feel grateful I get to call it that. (9-5 was never for me!)
I would love to chat about your great loves and who you are, so we can capture those ‘moment in time’ that stay with us always though the gift of photography.
